Dream Job |A to Z Challenge – Day 4

Day 4 | Letter: D

“Rachel, this is your 7th job in 2 years. Do you realize you have stability issue?” her sister looked at Rachel for an answer.

Rachel grabbed the plate of sausages in front of her and started eating them without answering. Her sister furiously left the room and Rachel, looked at the relieving letter from her last company lying on the table.

She went back to her room and filed the relieving in her folder, sat on the bed and looked in the mirror. She took her phone and started writing about her fight with her sister for her blog. She posted the post and got a comment from her regular reader, “Sorry, but I think your sister is not totally wrong.” Rachel was furious too, but she can’t yell, she replied to this reader – ‘I know she is right. I also know I have a problem. I wished the world was a better place and instead of making someone realize that they have problems actually help them. Anyway, thanks for stopping by.’

Next morning, Rachel woke up and saw that her sister had left for work. She made some tea for herself and opened the job portal app, searching for jobs, while sipping her tea. She saw that there was a notification on her blog. It was another response from her reader that said, “Would you like to come and work for me? I have been following your work since quite some time. I need a blogger and social media enthusiast, drop me an email if you are interested and I will provide you with more details.”

Rachel sent an email asking for more details and received a formal email from a company domain. They were offering her a salary hike by 30% and weekends off. They scheduled her meet with the owner of the company for the next day at a coffee shop. Rachel was a little skeptical about meeting some stranger in a coffee shop for a job that sounds too good to be true.

On the day of the interview, Rachel reached the venue with her laptop and her unpublished drafts. She saw a guy smiling at her from far. ‘He was too young to be the owner of a company’, thought Rachel. He was walking towards Rachel and said, “Hi, I am the reader and your possible boss, shall we discuss the job role.” Rachel smiled and they started talking about the job.

Rachel’s eyes were sparkling with joy when she heard the job role. She was getting hired as a Blogger for an e-magazine that was run by the guy for all the people who are going through mental stress and needed something refreshing to read. He said, “I have been reading your blogs and yes it helps me look at stress in a different way. Your style of writing is fresh and happy, though you are writing about mental illness. I need someone like you to write for my magazine.” Rachel agreed.

Rachel wrote a message to her sister stating how stressed she was while working for BPOs and that’s the reason she left 7 companies in 2 years. She told her how depression had hit her when she had no time to write for her blog. She told her how she got her dream job and how happy she was.

Rachel never looked behind. She was successful and inspired a lot of people through her writing.

This blog post is a part of the A-z challenge. Thank you for being a part of the reading spree and I hope to see you all for the remaining days and beyond. Do leave your blog’s link below in comments and I will definitely peek into your blogging world.

P.S.: Not every story will be sad; some could be really a happy one, with no twists at all. Though I was planning to give it a twist, however the word count kept on increasing.

Keep Writing! Keep Blogging! Love Thyself!

  1. Always nice to read a story with a turn for the better. Wish real life was like that.

Is this based on a real life incident? I’m curious to know.
